Under the National Sheep Identification
System (NSIS) announced by the Minister for Agriculture in 2001, all sheep
will have to bear a white identity tag in the left ear either on movement
from the holding of birth, or by December 15th of the year of birth, whichever
is the earliest.
Agri-Tag
The
Agri-Tag printed and marketed by Agrihealth Limited has been
designed and approved for this scheme. Weighing in at just 3.5grms,
including the tamper-proof button back, this permanent tag is
made from high quality polyurethane and remains soft and pliable
even in the coldest weather. Because the plastic in the Agri-Tag
is so flexible it will not easily snag in hedges or fences and
the fall-out rate is exceptionally low. The Agri-Tag can be
used as both a long term and short-term tag.

Temp-Tag
On
sale since early 2003 the Temp-Tag is specifically designed
for short term use under the NSIS. This long thin tag is a
perfect cost effective tag for sheep going straight from farm
to slaughter. The tags are molded in strips of twenty and
sold in batches of one hundred.
